What it does
Pharos launch hook that takes a native-coin fee on each trade, starting with a falling launch tax of up to 50% for at most one hour, then a final fee of at most 4% that can only be lowered, with cheaper fees for trades that close cross-chain price gaps, fees split between creator, platform and keeper, and only the Locker allowed to add liquidity.
How it works step by step
- Shared hook for Pharos token launches: each pool pairs the native coin (ETH/BNB) with a launched token, opened only by an approved factory that registered it first.
- Charges a trading fee in the native coin on every buy and sell, using a launch tax for up to one hour after opening (at most 50%, only ever falling), then a final fee of at most 4%.
- Discounts the fee (down to the platform floor) for trades that move this chain's price back toward the token's price on other chains.
- Splits fees between the token creator, the platform (up to 50% cut, floor up to 0.5% of volume) and an optional price keeper, holding them as claims credited to the Pulse contract.
- Only the Locker contract can add liquidity, and sells cannot push the price above the opening price.
- Swap behaviour
- Each swap pays a fee in ETH/BNB taken from the input or output: during the launch window it follows a falling schedule capped at 50% and lasting at most one hour, afterward the creator's final fee of up to 4%, reduced by up to 100% of the fee (but not below the platform floor) for trades that close cross-chain price gaps. Sells that would push the price past the opening edge revert, partial fills with a fee revert, and two platform contracts (the collector and Pulse) trade fee-free.
- Liquidity behaviour
- Only the Locker contract may add liquidity; everyone else is rejected. The hook has no remove-liquidity callbacks, so it never runs on withdrawals, and the source states the Locker never removes liquidity.
- Fee behaviour
- Launch tax starts at up to 50% and falls to the final fee within at most one hour; the final fee is 0% to 4% per side, never below the platform floor (max 0.5%), and can only be lowered by the creator with 7 days' notice. Fees are minted as claims to the Pulse and split between creator, platform (cut up to 50% of the fee) and an optional keeper (up to 1% extra taken from the creator's share, 40% of that to the keeper).
- Owner & admin controls
- There is no owner of the hook. Per pool, the creator can only end the launch tax early, schedule lower final fees (7 days' notice, only while cross-chain prices agree within 1%) and transfer this role. The config admin only sets terms for future launches (platform cut up to 50%, floor up to 0.5%) and adds factories, so existing pools are unaffected.
Enabled Uniswap v4 callbacks
beforeInitialize, beforeAddLiquidity, beforeSwap, afterSwap, beforeSwapReturnDelta, afterSwapReturnDelta
beforeInitialize: only the registering factory can open a pool, and the opening price is recorded; beforeAddLiquidity: only the Locker can add liquidity; beforeSwap: works out the rate and takes the fee when the native coin is the specified side; afterSwap: takes the fee on the other side, blocks sells past the opening price and rejects partial fills; beforeSwapReturnDelta/afterSwapReturnDelta: let the hook take the fee amount out of the swap.
Security & trust assessment
Risk level: medium (verified source, high confidence).
Who controls it: The hook itself is immutable with no owner; creators can only lower fees or end the tax, and the config admin affects only future launches within hard caps. Fee claims accrue to the Pulse contract, whose distribution logic is outside this hook.
Risk to user funds: The hook takes 0% to 50% of the native-coin side of a trade during the launch window of at most one hour, and 0% to 4% afterward. Pool liquidity sits in the PoolManager and the hook cannot block or drain withdrawals.
Security findings
- [medium] High launch tax allowed: During the first hour, a creator-set schedule can charge up to 50% per trade. The schedule is fixed at launch and can only fall.
- [info] Final fee capped and only lowerable: After the launch window the fee is at most 4% and can never be raised; reductions need 7 days' notice.
- [info] Sell price boundary: Sells that would move the price beyond the opening price revert, which reflects the single-sided liquidity range rather than sell blocking.
- [info] Liquidity restricted to the Locker: Only the Locker can add liquidity, and that liquidity is intended to be permanent; the hook cannot affect withdrawals.
