What it does

OreHook is a Uniswap v4 hook for the Hooked Bitcoin token that charges an adaptive ETH toll on swaps, routes it to protocol-owned liquidity and a Burn Net that burns HBTC, and pays small keeper bounties.

How it works step by step

  • Charges a retargeted 1 to 10 percent ETH toll on buys and sells, recorded as work for block rewards.
  • Locks genesis block rewards into single-sided protocol-owned liquidity with no withdrawal path.
  • Runs a Burn Net of seven single-sided ETH limit rungs below a ratcheting value anchor, burning harvested HBTC.
  • Maintains a TWAP oracle from afterSwap observations used for anchor and price decisions.
  • Pays a fixed keeper bounty in ERC6909 ETH claims to the caller of a successful heartbeat, funded from toll escrow.
Swap behaviour
On buys (ETH in, HBTC out) beforeSwap takes a toll and reverts exact-output swaps; on sells afterSwap takes a toll on the ETH output. Buys are blocked until block 144. Tolls are returned as ERC6909 claims.
Liquidity behaviour
No liquidity callbacks are enabled. Liquidity is added and removed only by the hook itself when POL is deposited (flushPol) and when Burn Net tiers are placed, harvested or migrated. External LPs can add liquidity through the normal PoolManager path but the hook does not react to it.
Fee behaviour
The pool LP fee is static at 0. Buy-side swaps (ETH-in to HBTC-out direction, zeroForOne) and sell-side ETH outputs are charged a toll in ETH: beforeSwap takes a toll on buys and afterSwap takes it on sells, starting at an initial 2% level and retargeted within 1% to 10% by DifficultyModule. Toll ETH is held as ERC6909 claims and routed to the Burn Net and a keeper bounty.
Owner & admin controls
No owner or admin role found in the verified source. Mint and burn on HBTC are restricted to the hook address. Pool initialization is gated to the launchDeployer, the constructor is gated to tx.origin == launchDeployer, and the deployer cannot change the toll rate, which is retargeted automatically. No pausing or upgrade path found; the hook is non-upgradeable.

Enabled Uniswap v4 callbacks

beforeInitialize, beforeSwap, afterSwap, beforeSwapReturnDelta, afterSwapReturnDelta

beforeInitialize gates pool creation to the launch deployer and the exact initial price. beforeSwap takes a toll on buys, settles genesis and POL, and retargets difficulty; it reverts exact-output swaps. afterSwap records the observation tick for the TWAP oracle and takes a toll on sells. beforeSwapReturnDelta and afterSwapReturnDelta let the hook take the toll as a delta on the swap.

Security & trust assessment

Risk level: medium (verified source, medium confidence).

Who controls it: No privileged key is documented. The launch deployer only controls the one-time pool initialization and constructor check; it cannot pause swaps, change fees or withdraw funds. Automatic retargeting and the 1 to 10 percent toll clamp limit the impact of any manipulation.

Risk to user funds: The hook holds ETH toll claims and HBTC POL and can mint and burn HBTC through its own logic. Users pay a toll on each buy and sell, and the hook can block buys before block 144 and exact-output swaps. No external actor can move pool funds, based on the visible source.

Security findings

  • [low] tx.origin used for attribution: Heavy reliance on tx.origin for work attribution when no hookData is provided. Bundlers and intent-solver EOAs are credited with work, which the source discloses as a known edge.
  • [medium] Complex stateful Burn Net logic: Pending toll ETH and Burn Net rung accounting are complex and driven by TWAP and anchor ratchet logic; an anchor reset can create a new generation with different salts. The stall-escape path was patched in response to an audit finding.
  • [medium] Hook takes value from swaps via return deltas: The hook takes tolls on swaps through return deltas, so it can change the amount a trader receives. Tolls range from 1 to 10 percent and are fixed by the retarget formula, not by an admin.
  • [info] Genesis POL is non-extractable by design: Genesis blocks mint HBTC into single-sided POL with no extraction path, and trading is closed for the first 144 blocks.
