What it does
Kyte's hook charges every swap (or only swaps settled in a set currency like WETH) a protocol fee of up to 1% sent to the Kyte fee vault, records a TWAP price oracle, and leaves LP deposits and withdrawals untouched.
How it works step by step
- Charges a protocol fee of up to 1% on each swap, taken from the unspecified side of the trade (the output for exact-input swaps, the extra input for exact-output swaps).
- Sends the fee straight to a Kyte FeeVault, where it is split among Kyte fee recipients.
- Can be limited to charge the fee only when that side is a set currency (WETH on Kyte).
- Records a price observation after every swap, keeping the last 128, to offer a time-weighted average price (TWAP) oracle.
- Never touches liquidity adds or withdrawals.
- Swap behaviour
- After each swap the hook records the new price tick and takes a fee of the current rate (0% to 1%) from the swap's unspecified currency, sending it to the fee vault. Exact-input traders receive slightly less output and exact-output traders pay slightly more input; there are no other restrictions.
- Liquidity behaviour
- No liquidity callbacks; LPs can add and withdraw freely.
- Fee behaviour
- A hook fee of 0% to 1% (hard cap) of the swap's unspecified amount is sent to the FeeVault, on top of the pool's normal LP fee. If a fee currency filter is set, only swaps whose unspecified side is that currency pay it.
- Owner & admin controls
- The owner, set permanently at deployment and intended to be a timelock, can change the fee between 0% and 1% and change the fee vault address. Nothing else can be changed.
Enabled Uniswap v4 callbacks
afterInitialize, afterSwap, afterSwapReturnDelta
afterInitialize: writes the first oracle observation; afterSwap: records the price tick and collects the fee; afterSwapReturnDelta: charges the fee amount to the swapper.
Security & trust assessment
Risk level: low (verified source, high confidence).
Who controls it: A single immutable owner address (described as a timelock) controls the fee rate and fee recipient. The worst it can do is set the fee to 1% and send it to an address of its choice.
Risk to user funds: The hook only takes 0% to 1% of each swap's unspecified amount. It holds no LP funds and cannot lock or drain LP principal.
Security findings
- [info] Fee hard-capped at 1%: The fee rate is checked against a fixed 1% maximum both at deployment and on every change.
- [info] Fee vault can be redirected: The owner can point fee payments to any address, but this only affects where the up-to-1% fee goes.
- [info] LP withdrawals unaffected: Remove-liquidity callbacks are disabled, so the hook cannot block or charge LP withdrawals; the contract is not upgradeable.
