What it does

Traders on Hookwell pools pay a higher LP fee and may be capped on buys during the launch window, and every swap loses a small slice of output to the treasury, burn (buys only) and liquidity providers.

How it works step by step

  • Shared hook for all Hookwell pools; each pool is created via createPool with its own fixed module config (anti-snipe, auto burn, LP rewards)
  • Anti-snipe: during a launch window after creation, swaps pay a higher LP fee (launchFee) and buys can be capped per swap by maxBuyIn in quote currency
  • Auto burn: on buys, a burnBps share of the token output is taken and sent to the dead address 0x...dEaD
  • LP rewards: a lpRewardBps share of every swap output is taken and donated to in-range liquidity providers when the pool has liquidity
  • Protocol fee: a global protocolFeeBps (capped at 0.5%) share of every swap output is taken to the treasury
  • Only exact-input swaps are accepted; exact-output swaps revert
Swap behaviour
beforeSwap reverts on exact-output swaps, sets the LP fee to baseFee normally or launchFee during the launch window, and reverts buys above maxBuyIn during the launch window. afterSwap takes protocol fee, burn (buys only) and LP reward from the output currency via return delta, so traders receive less output than the pool produced. Pools with no launch window pay the base fee and the same skims apply.
Liquidity behaviour
No liquidity callbacks.
Fee behaviour
Dynamic fee overridden in beforeSwap: baseFee outside the launch window and launchFee (>= baseFee, up to 30%) inside it. Additionally, afterSwap skims protocolFeeBps of output to treasury, burnBps of token output on buys, and lpRewardBps of output donated to LPs; these skims are taken as afterSwap return delta on top of the LP fee.
Owner & admin controls
Owner (Ownable2Step, two-step transfer, renounce possible) can set protocolFeeBps up to 0.5%, change the treasury address (cannot be zero) and set the router that may record a creator on pool creation. Owner cannot change individual pool configs after creation. No pause function and no upgradeability found.

Enabled Uniswap v4 callbacks

beforeInitialize, beforeSwap, afterSwap, afterSwapReturnDelta

beforeInitialize restricts pool initialization to the hook itself (via createPool). beforeSwap enforces exact-input, applies the launch-window fee override and buy cap. afterSwap takes the protocol fee, burn and LP reward and donates to LPs. afterSwapReturnDelta lets the hook keep part of the swap output.

Security & trust assessment

Risk level: medium (verified source, high confidence).

Who controls it: The owner can change the protocol fee (up to 0.5% of every swap output) and redirect fees to a new treasury, and can set the router. The owner cannot pause pools, change existing pool configs, or move pool funds directly.

Risk to user funds: The hook takes tokens from swap outputs via return delta and sends them to the treasury, the dead address, or LP donations. It holds no standing balance but can route a fraction of each swap's output.

Security findings

  • [info] Hook keeps part of every swap output: afterSwapReturnDelta causes protocol fees, token burns and LP rewards to be taken from swap output, so traders receive less than the pool's computed output on every swap.
  • [low] Owner can raise protocol fee up to 0.5%: setProtocolFee is capped at MAX_PROTOCOL_FEE_BPS (50 bps) applied to every swap output, and the treasury address can be redirected by the owner.
  • [low] Buy cap can block swaps during launch window: beforeSwap reverts MaxBuyExceeded for buys above maxBuyIn during the launch window, which can block large buys.
  • [medium] Fee-on-transfer and rebasing tokens unsupported: Accounting assumes output equals the pool delta; take() and donate() with such tokens may mis-account or revert.
