What it does
A token tax hook that charges fixed buy and sell taxes on swaps, uses the proceeds to buy back and burn the token, and manages a time-locked protocol LP position, while ordinary LPs can withdraw freely.
This read was written for the hook 0x0eef…80cc on Ethereum and reused here: the two share a code shape, so constants such as fees, owners and addresses can differ.
How it works step by step
- Charges a fixed buy tax and sell tax on swaps in a single token/quote pool, taken in the swap via return deltas.
- Collects the tax (in the quote asset) inside the hook and tracks the total collected.
- Can use the collected tax to buy back the project token from the pool and burn it, either automatically after swaps or when someone triggers a buyback.
- Holds the project's own LP position NFT with a time lock that the owner can extend, and lets the owner collect LP fees or withdraw the position after the lock expires.
- Swap behaviour
- On each buy or sell the hook takes a hard-coded tax (BUY_TAX_BPS / SELL_TAX_BPS constants, exact values not readable from bytecode) from the swap amounts. It may then run a buyback-and-burn using the accumulated tax if auto-buyback is on.
- Liquidity behaviour
- No liquidity callbacks are enabled, so other LPs can add and withdraw freely. The hook's own protocol-owned LP NFT is time-locked and only the owner can withdraw it after unlock.
- Fee behaviour
- Fixed buy and sell tax rates are compiled in as constants (exact percentages unknown from bytecode), on top of the pool's static fee. The tax is kept by the hook and spent on token buybacks that are burned.
- Owner & admin controls
- The owner can toggle buyback and auto-buyback, set buyback parameters (minimum amount, chunk size, chunks per tx, threshold), extend the LP lock, collect LP fees, and withdraw the protocol LP NFT after its lock. Tax rates appear to be constants the owner cannot change.
Enabled Uniswap v4 callbacks
beforeSwap, afterSwap, beforeSwapReturnDelta, afterSwapReturnDelta
beforeSwap: computes and takes tax on the input side; afterSwap: takes tax on output side and may trigger auto-buyback; beforeSwapReturnDelta/afterSwapReturnDelta: let the hook deduct the tax from swap amounts.
Security & trust assessment
Risk level: medium, estimated (decoded bytecode, medium confidence).
Who controls it: A single owner controls buyback settings, the LP lock extension, LP fee collection and withdrawal of the project's locked LP position. They cannot change tax rates or block other LPs.
Risk to user funds: Traders pay a fixed buy/sell tax of unknown exact size on each swap; collected tax sits in the hook for buybacks. Third-party LP withdrawals cannot be blocked or charged.
Security findings
- [low] Fixed swap tax via return deltas: Buy and sell taxes are constants in bytecode, so the owner cannot raise them, but exact percentages cannot be confirmed without source.
- [low] Owner-controlled protocol LP: The owner can withdraw the hook-held LP position after the lock expires, which could reduce pool depth; other LPs are unaffected.
- [info] Unverified source: Analysis is from decoded bytecode; buyback logic and tax amounts cannot be fully verified.
