What it does
Fair launch hook for Pegasus that takes a per-swap fee and a creator tax, applies a decaying snipe tax to early buys, and periodically converts the memecoin fees back to quote and splits them between protocol, creator, and a five-year buyback vest.
This read was written for the hook 0xc3bc…e044 on Unichain and reused here: the two share a code shape, so constants such as fees, owners and addresses can differ.
How it works step by step
- Takes a hook fee (default 1%, max 10%) and a creator-set tax from the unspecified currency of every swap via afterSwapReturnDelta.
- Applies a snipe tax to public buys during a configurable launch window, halving from a start rate across up to 60 seconds, with the developer buy from the factory exempt.
- Converts pending memecoin fees to the quote currency through internal swaps capped by a price-impact ceiling, then distributes them.
- Splits distributed quote fees between the protocol and creator using terms snapshotted at launch, and routes the buyback slice into a five-year vest instead of burning.
- Allows the owner to rescue stuck pending fees for pools whose quote token cannot deliver exact amounts.
- Swap behaviour
- afterSwap computes hook fee, creator tax and any snipe tax on the unspecified leg of each swap, takes them from the pool manager, and records them in pending buckets for later sweep. Sells pay only fee and creator tax; buys inside the snipe window also pay the decaying snipe tax, and exact-output buys in that window revert.
- Liquidity behaviour
- No liquidity callbacks.
- Fee behaviour
- afterSwap takes hookFeeBps (max 10%) of the unspecified currency on every swap, plus a creator tax set at launch, plus a time-decaying snipe tax on public buys within a launch window (up to 60 seconds, starting bps capped at 99%, buyer always keeps at least 1% of output). Fees split protocol / buyback / creator on sweep; creator tax goes entirely to the creator. Memecoin-denominated fees are converted to the quote currency through internal swaps against the pool before distribution.
- Owner & admin controls
- Owner (Ownable2Step, renounce disabled) can set the factory and buyback vault once, change protocol fee share (max 50%), buyback burn bps, hook fee bps (max 10%), max internal price impact, protocol fee recipient, and the fee sweep operator. The owner can also call rescuePoolFees on any pool to pay out pending fees directly, bypassing the escrow. The factory can register pools, change creator fee recipients and toggle buyback per pool. Pool fee terms are frozen at registration, so owner policy changes only affect future launches.
Enabled Uniswap v4 callbacks
beforeInitialize, afterSwap, afterSwapReturnDelta
beforeInitialize restricts pool initialization to the factory. afterSwap with afterSwapReturnDelta takes fee and tax amounts from each swap via poolManager take and returns them as a delta, and triggers the snipe tax logic on buys.
Security & trust assessment
Risk level: medium, estimated (decoded bytecode, high confidence).
Who controls it: The owner can raise the protocol fee share and hook fee for future pools and change the fee sweep operator, who controls the minimums on conversions and buybacks. The owner can rescue pending fees to chosen recipients. The factory can redirect creator fee recipients, and the buyback vault follows those redirects. Ownership can be transferred but not renounced.
Risk to user funds: The hook holds pending fee balances in the quote and memecoin tokens for each pool, and it can move them via fee sweeps, internal swaps, buyback locks and owner rescue. Swaps cannot be blocked by a pause because none exists, and the hook does not hold LP principal. Swappers pay the hook fee, snipe tax and creator tax on every trade.
Security findings
- [medium] Fee conversions and buybacks executed against manipulable spot price: Internal conversion and buyback swaps are bounded only by a price-impact ceiling relative to the live spot price, so a sandwich attacker can shift the band. Protection relies on the operator-supplied minimum outputs, which are gated to the trusted sweep operator for price-sensitive legs.
- [info] Snipe tax on public buys in launch window: Exact-output buys inside the snipe window revert, and buys in the window pay tax on the output. Reverting is a deliberate protection, but a taxed buyer can still receive as little as 1% of the output net of tax per the cap.
- [low] Owner-controlled fee rescue: The owner can call rescuePoolFees on any pool to transfer pending quote and memecoin fees directly to the protocol and creator, bypassing the escrow and buyback. This is an emergency path but gives the owner direct control over accrued fee balances.
- [info] Buyback-and-lock redistributes creator fee share: Buyback is funded from the creator's share of fees, so enabling it moves value from the creator to the protocol relative to taking fees directly, scaled by buybackBurnBps. Locked tokens vest over five years to the creator and protocol.
