What it does

A Clanker launchpad hook that charges direction-based swap fees (with possible higher early-launch MEV fees, all under hard-coded caps), takes a protocol cut and routes LP fees to the locker, while LPs remain free to withdraw.

How it works step by step

  • Clanker launchpad hook for token pools on Base, created by the Clanker factory.
  • Sets a static LP fee per pool, with separate rates for buying and selling the Clanker token (clanker fee vs paired-token fee), capped by a hard-coded maximum.
  • Takes a protocol fee slice on swaps via return deltas and sends rewards to the pool's locker contract for LP fee distribution.
  • Supports an optional MEV module that can raise fees for a limited time after launch, plus optional allowlisted pool extensions that run after swaps.
  • Does not run on liquidity withdrawals, so LPs can always remove liquidity.
Swap behaviour
Before each swap the hook sets the LP fee depending on swap direction and may consult an MEV module during the early launch window. It also takes a protocol fee portion from the swap via return deltas and can trigger locker reward collection and pool extension logic after the swap.
Liquidity behaviour
beforeAddLiquidity runs on deposits, mainly for MEV module state tracking. Remove-liquidity callbacks are disabled, so the hook can never block or charge LP withdrawals.
Fee behaviour
Each pool has a fixed clanker-token fee and paired-token fee set at creation, bounded by a hard-coded maximum (exact cap not readable from bytecode; Clanker v4 uses about 10% for LP fees), and an MEV module may set higher temporary fees up to a separate hard-coded max. A protocol share of fees is taken and the remaining LP fees flow to the locker for the creator and protocol.
Owner & admin controls
The factory initializes pools with fee settings and chooses the MEV module and extensions from an allowlist. The MEV module can adjust fees within the hard-coded maximum and only during a limited delay window. No function to drain funds or block withdrawals was found.

Enabled Uniswap v4 callbacks

beforeInitialize, beforeAddLiquidity, beforeSwap, afterSwap, beforeSwapReturnDelta, afterSwapReturnDelta

beforeInitialize: blocks direct pool creation outside the factory path; beforeAddLiquidity: tracks MEV module and launch state; beforeSwap: sets direction-based dynamic fee and protocol fee; afterSwap: collects protocol fee and runs extensions and reward collection; beforeSwapReturnDelta/afterSwapReturnDelta: lets the hook deduct the protocol fee from swap amounts.

Security & trust assessment

Risk level: medium, estimated (decoded bytecode, medium confidence).

Who controls it: The Clanker factory and allowlisted MEV modules or extensions control per-pool fee settings within hard-coded caps. They cannot block LP withdrawals.

Risk to user funds: The hook takes a protocol fee and LP fees from swap amounts, bounded by hard-coded caps whose exact values are unverified. LP principal cannot be locked or drained by the hook.

Security findings

  • [info] Swap return deltas active: The hook deducts a protocol fee from swaps through return deltas, which is standard for launchpad fee collection; the exact percentage cannot be confirmed from bytecode.
  • [low] Temporary MEV fees: An MEV module can raise fees early after launch, bounded by a hard-coded maximum MEV fee and maximum delay window.
  • [info] Unrestricted LP withdrawals: Remove-liquidity callbacks are disabled, so LPs cannot be blocked from withdrawing.
