What it does

A launchpad hook that takes a fee from every swap and splits it between token creators and the platform, with fee rates set by a launchpad contract that cannot be verified, while LPs can withdraw freely.

This read was written for the hook 0xcd42…e0cc on Ethereum and reused here: the two share a code shape, so constants such as fees, owners and addresses can differ.

How it works step by step

  • Acts as a launchpad hook: a launchpad contract (the 'pad') registers new tokens and their pools, apparently with creator and platform fee settings.
  • Takes a fee on swaps through return deltas and splits it between the token creator and the platform.
  • Creators can claim their accrued fees, and a release function appears to hand off reserves or tokens once conditions are met.
  • Only the launchpad contract can register pools, and pool initialization is checked by the hook.
Swap behaviour
On each swap the hook can adjust the swap amounts and take a fee from the input or output, which is credited to the creator and the platform. The exact fee rate and any extra swap rules cannot be confirmed from bytecode.
Liquidity behaviour
No liquidity callbacks are enabled. LPs can add and withdraw freely, and the hook can never block withdrawals.
Fee behaviour
A swap fee is taken via return deltas and split between the token creator (claimable via claimCreatorFees) and the platform. Per-token fee settings appear to be stored as small integers, possibly basis points, but the exact percentages and caps are unverified.
Owner & admin controls
A stored pad address can be changed via setPad, and only the pad can register token configs, including fee values that are probably up to 655.35% if left uncapped. Any hard caps on those values cannot be confirmed without source.

Enabled Uniswap v4 callbacks

beforeInitialize, beforeSwap, afterSwap, beforeSwapReturnDelta, afterSwapReturnDelta

beforeInitialize: restricts or validates pool creation; beforeSwap: applies fee or swap logic before execution; afterSwap: settles or records fees after execution; beforeSwapReturnDelta/afterSwapReturnDelta: lets the hook take tokens from swap amounts as fees.

Security & trust assessment

Risk level: medium, estimated (decoded bytecode, low confidence).

Who controls it: The pad address, and whoever can call setPad, controls token registration and fee configuration. The limits on that configuration are unknown.

Risk to user funds: Swappers pay a fee taken from swap amounts; the maximum rate cannot be verified from bytecode. LP principal in the PoolManager cannot be locked or taken by this hook.

Security findings

  • [medium] Unverified fee-taking return deltas: The hook can deduct swap amounts through return deltas, and the fee caps set by the pad cannot be verified from bytecode.
  • [low] Pad address is changeable: setPad lets the controlling account switch which contract can register pools and configs.
  • [info] LP withdrawals unrestricted: Remove-liquidity callbacks are disabled, so LPs can always withdraw.
